Best Practices for Storing Honey:

Honey is one of those products that can be helpful in so many ways. We love its flavour, health benefits and so much more. If you want to get the most use out of your honey we have some recommendations on how best to use and store it so you can get the most out of your honey!

Storage:

Store your honey in a cool, dark, and dry environment. A cupboard or pantry is the perfect place to store your jar of delicious honey. Preferably with spoons close by for when you’re craving a little sweetness. 

Expired Honey:

Wait! Honey doesn’t actually expire (link: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-science-behind-honeys-eternal-shelf-life-1218690/). But it does crystallize. If your honey crystallizes on you that is not a sign that it has gone bad, it is a natural process that happens over time as the sugars and other trace elements and minerals settle out of the liquid form. 

What To Do With Crystallized Honey:

If your honey crystallizes there’s no need to worry, it’s still fine. All you need to do is heat it up. The best way to do this is to put a glass container of your honey in warm water and wait for it to reliquefy. If it’s taking too long try giving it a vigorous stir and placing it back in the warm water. Just don’t microwave it… it’ll liquefy and then aggressively granulate. In this case, being patient is definitely best practice!
